The State of Coahuila, in the nortwest of Mexico, carried out yesterday (25th September) the first binding election with a DRE machine developed by the Coahuila electoral authorities themselves. I was invited to go and I could visit some of the 42 polling stations where the e-voting machines had been accepted.
I would like to underline the effort of this Mexican State in improving the electoral system and the willing to provide enough transparency to the overall process with measures like the disclosure of the source code or the presence of a large group of electoral observers.
